Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 cups water
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add turmeric, salt, and black pepper, mixing well with the garlic.
  4. Add the rinsed rice to the pot and stir to coat the rice with the oil and spices.
  5. Pour in the water and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for another 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork.
