Delicious and easy-to-make Japanese chicken yakitori skewers that you can prepare at home.

  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup sake
  • ¼ cup mirin
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 green onions, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • skewers, soaked in water

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sake, mirin, and sugar to create the marinade.
  3. Add chicken to the marinade and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.
  4. Thread chicken and green onion onto skewers alternately.
  5. Preheat grill or broiler to medium heat.
  6. Grill the skewers for about 10 minutes, turning occasionally.
  7. Brush with leftover marinade during grilling.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Serve with a side of rice or salad for a complete meal.
