A comforting and flavorful dish perfect for chilly evenings, featuring meatballs braised in a rich red wine sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides.
  4. Remove meatballs and set aside. In the same skillet, pour in red wine and add crushed tomatoes and oregano.
  5. Bring the sauce to a simmer and then return the meatballs to the skillet.
  6. Cover and cook on low heat for about 45 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.

Notes

  • For added flavor, let the meatballs marinate in the mixture for a few hours before cooking.
  • Serve with pasta or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
