- 4 pounds beef roast
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup red wine
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary
